| Early spring 1994, a number
of young musicians, headed by violinist Vladislav Bulakhov, decided
to form a new chamber orchestra, giving their first concert on March
27 of that year. Violinist Vladimir Lantsman from Canada was invited
to serve as the artistic director and soloist. One of the programs prepared
under his direction included Vivaldis The Four Seasons, and The
Seaons later became the name of the orchestra. Vladislav Bulakov assumed
the position of conductor and artistic director in November 1994. |
| Today the orchestra is composed of a nucleus of 20 talented musicians, to which others are added as required by the repertoire being performed. Since 1998 the orchestra has been sponsored by the firm Gorodissky & Partners, (patent and trademark attorneys), and in 1999 it received the status of a State Orchestra. The repertoire of the orchestra is very rich, ranging from Baroque masters up to modern composers. Besides concert tours to Germany, Taiwan, China, Scotland and Italy, the Orchestra has participated in several festivals, among those: Russian Winter, Russias Talents the First International Festival of Classical Guitar and the Franz Schubert Festival. Many prominent soloist have been invited to perform with the orchestra. Conductor Vladislav Bulakhov a graduate from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music as a violinist in 1984. In 1983, he joined the New Moscow Chamber Orchestra headed by Igor Zhukov. Bulakhovs ten years of experience in that orchestra, plus the intensive study with his father, a respected conductor, led to the forming of the Seasons Orchestra. Mr. Bulakhovs intimate knowledge of stringed instruments enables him to achieve an extraordinary variety of orchestral tone colors with expressive articulations and a seemingly endless range of dynamic gradations. His conducting is characterized by convincing and precise rhythm as well as the ability to bring out each individual voice in the musical score. |
