Troy Gifford was born in Greenville, SC, in 1970. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance and a Master's Degree in Composition from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.
He is currently pursuing a D.M.A. in Composition at the University of Miami, and teaches at Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, FL.
Gifford has written a number of works for the guitar, including a large scale Suite for Guitar and Chamber Ensemble which received its world premiere in April 1999.
