Bio of composers > BÉDARD, Denis

Denis Bédard studied at the Conservatoire in Quebec City where he obtained diplomas in harpsichord, organ, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint and fugue. Grants from the Canada Council enabled him to continue his organ and harpsichord studies in Montreal, Paris and Amsterdam.

He won the Prix d'Europe in 1975 as a harpsichordist. An active composer since 1981, he has written works for saxophone, flute, trumpet, organ and voice as well as works for various small ensembles.

Denis Bédard teaches harpsichord at the Conservatory in Quebec City where he is also organist at Saint-Coeur-de-Marie Church.
