Bio of composers > HOUDY, Pierick

Born in 1929 in Rennes, France, Pierick Houdy studied at the Paris Conservatory. He obtained a Premier Prix in composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome and the Grand Prix of the City of Paris. Successively he was Director of the Tours Conservatory, taught at the Schola Cantorum, conducted the Children's Choir of Radio France and was Maître de Chapelle at Saint-Séverin Church in Paris. Pierick Houdy has composed over 170 works for different instruments, including chamber music and music for choir, orchestra, church, the stage and film.
He is since 1971 Professor of composition at the Quebec Conservatory.
