YORK, Andrew

"Andrew York's eclectic playing and writing constitute one of the hippest styles in American classical guitar . . ." say critics of guitarist and composer Andrew York. Andrew performs his guitar compositions in solo concerts throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. He has also been a member of the internationally recognized Los Angeles Guitar Quartet who records for Sony.

Andrew's compositions and arrangements for guitar have gained him wide recognition among both musicians and audiences - besides his own performances of his works, classical guitarists John Williams, Christopher Parkening, and Scott Tennant have recorded and performed Andrew's compositions.

Andrew's own discography includes his solo albums Denouement on GSP Recordings (winner of the 1994 Guitar Player reader's poll for "best classical album") and Perfect Sky, also on GSP; inclusion on the Windham Hill Records' Guitar Sampler and Rhino Records' Legends of the Guitar - Classical.

Andrew's compositions appear in print worldwide from Mel Bay Publications, Les Éditions Doberman-Yppan, Guitar Solo Publications in San Francisco, Ricordi in London, and Gendai in Japan.
