This series of three anthologies was developed over the years by the guitar faculty of the School of Music of Laval University (Quebec), to provide students with new material of musical interest. Each of the books in this graded series consists of three sections:
- Renaissance music, mainly transcribed from lute tablatures
- Baroque music, transcribed from lute tablatures or adapted from music for other instruments
- Contemporary pieces, some of which has been commissioned by the editors.

In Volume II, the student will find some longer works (including a complete cello suite by Bach). All are well suited for recital use.
